Kyle Patrick as Jesus could not feel more approachable if he tried. When Jesus shows up to the pool and everyone stops, Patrick simply replies, “I wanted to get washed up” so nonchalantly you forget he is playing one of the most famous men in the world. Don’t think Jesus is all smiles, though; in act two Patrick flips his charm into cryptic darkness that feels like a terrifying promise of bad things to come. Patrick ends Godspell in a jaw-dropping physical feat that truly can only be witnessed in person and left my jaw on the floor.
